Gas & Steel is a free tool, made and run by one person. It has no accounts, takes no payment and keeps nothing, so there is not much here. Using it means accepting the following.
Whose game this is
Of Oil and Iron, and everything in it, belongs to Scoutsifer Studio. This tool is unofficial and exists with their permission; we are not endorsed or supported by them, and nothing we say here speaks for them. It is not a rulebook and no substitute for one — where this tool and the published rules disagree, the published rules are right.
What you can expect from it
Nothing, formally. We provide it as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It may be wrong, it may be unavailable, and we may change or withdraw it at any time without notice. Do not rely on it for anything that matters to you.
Your work is yours
We claim nothing you build here; it is yours, and we never hold a copy of it. It lives wherever you put it — in your own browser, in the backup files you export, and, if you choose to connect one, in a cloud storage account of your own such as Google Drive. Any other storage we offer later will work the same way: the account is yours, the file is yours, and it stays readable without this tool.
Because we are not holding it, we cannot get it back for you either. It can be lost — by clearing your browser, by a browser clearing itself, by a bug in this tool, or by something going wrong at a storage provider neither of us controls. Keep the backup file the app asks you to keep.
Using it fairly
Use it to build your own lists for your own games. Do not attempt to break, overload or interfere with it, and do not use it as a route to redistribute the game’s content or to present anything as official.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from using this tool, including the loss of lists you have built with it. If that seems severe for a squadron builder, it is the ordinary position for something given away for free — and it is the reason the backup file exists.
Changes
We may change these terms. The date at the foot is when we last did, and continuing to use the tool after that is how you accept the new version. Nothing here affects rights you have under law that cannot be signed away.
